The Shadow Lake census place sits between Maple Valley to the southeast, Covington to the south, and Maple Heights–Lake Desire to the north. SE Petrovitsky Road is the commuter edge. The namesake lake is a small, mostly private kettle in the western part of the CDP — useful humidity, not Lake Wilderness Park’s public beach and playground. Houses along 184th Ave SE, Peter Grubb Road SE, SE Lake Youngs Road, and the numbered laterals (SE 213th, SE 216th) sit under trees next to wetland and bog soils.
